Around 3:30pm, a Barred Owl was spotted sitting on a hydro line on Fernbank
Road. It was quite jumpy and took off into deeper woods.

Direction: To get to Fernbank you can take Jinkinson Road off of Hwy 7 just
past Stittsville. Turn left on to Fernbank. The owl was about 1Km up the road
on the north side.

On Wed., March 16, 2005 at 12 noon, a pure white morph GYRFALCON was spotted
by Bob Sachs, and well seen by 8 members of the North Leeds Birders. It
flew directly overhead at 125m altitude, an awesome sight. It proceeded
westward, but was not seen again. It was seen at the cemetary near Horne's
Point on the south shore of Wolfe Island. Noteably, there is another recent
report of a white Gyrfalcon at the same location.

Elsewhere on Wolfe Island, a Red-tailed Hawk was sitting on a nest. A
Great-horned Owl was sitting on a nest. Two Snowy Owls and only two
Rough-legged Hawks were seen. Many Horned Larks, and hundreds of Snow
Buntings were at the west end. Redwing Blackbirds and Brown-headed Cowbirds
were seen along the 8th Line. Wolfe Island is still completely ice-bound,
so few waterfowl were seen.

DIRECTIONS: the Wolfe Island Ferry from Kingston Harbour is free. After
departing the Wolfe Island dock, proceed to the village of Marysville, then
take Hwy #95 south 10 km to the vicinity of Horne's Point.

Best Pishes,

Ken Kingdon
