Angie located the Northern Saw Whet Owl roosting in the southeast corner of the
spruce plantation which is south of the general campground (weekend tent
grounds).

You may ask for better directions at the camp office as you pay your $4 gate
fee; there is an automated gate which is activated by toonies.

The Lambton United Church Center is located at 6602 Lakeshore Road,
approximately 5 km south of Kettle Point. Lakeshore Rd. begins at the Kettle
Point Road off of Highway 21.

and late afternoon (3:30-5:30) beside our parking lot
- a RUFFED GROUSE sighted daily around the employee's parking lot
- Plenty of TRUMPETER SWANS that make the marsh home for the winter, here in
the highest numbers (60+) in the afternoon
- Plenty of CANADA GEESE, including a hybrid domestic?XCanada
- Plenty of the usual feeder birds; BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEES, RED
BREASTED/WHITE BREASTED NUTHATCH, DOWNY AND HAIRY WOODPECKERS, BLUE JAYS,
MOURNING DOVES, HOUSE FINCHES, PURPLE FINCHES, AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, JUNCOS,

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
We are just outside of Midland, Ontario; approximately a 40 minute drive
north of Barrie.
Take the 400 North to Hwy 12 West, take 12 West for approx. 20 min, the
driveway for the Wye Marsh is on the left, we share a driveway with Sainte
Marie Among the Hurons (directly across the road from Martyr's Shrine). You
can also take the 400 to the Midland/Penetanguishene turnoff onto Hwy 93,
turn right onto 12 East, pass under the railbridge, our driveway is on the
right.

Keep your fingers crossed for the recovery of Trumpeter Swan cygnet #821,
hatched this past summer at the marsh, currently being treated for lead
poisoning at the University of Guelph's Wild Bird Clinic.

***Exchange your lead shot and fishing tackle for non-toxic alternatives for
free!!!(http://www.severnsound.ca/takealittleleadout.htm) - the Severn Sound
Environmental Association's "Take a Little Lead Out!" project aims to
educate people on the dangers of lead in our waterways, and to provide
anglers with the opportunity to voluntarily exchange their lead sinkers and
jigs for new non-toxic alternatives, ABSOLUTELY FREE! Exchanges are held at
various public events in the Severn Sound area throughout the summer. In
addition, free exchanges can be made year-round at the Severn Sound
Environmental Association office located at 67 Fourth Street in Midland.

Cheers to you all, and happy birding!
