At 3:15 PM today the Hawk Owl was located south of the Husky Plant on the Hydro wires on the west side of Hwy 50. It was south of the railway bridge, and just north of Healey Road. The bird gave us a great demonstration of pouncing on a vole, mantling over it, gripping it in its talons, and flying off. The bird then proceeded to fly to some evergreens. it landed in a couple of different trees in close proximity, all the while carrying its prey. It then landed in one tree where it "finished off the vole", and stashed it for future "reference", and resumed its perch on the hydro wires overlooking Hwy 50. What a wonderful bird! It gave us great looks and seemed almost to be oblivious to our presence.

Directions: From Toronto, go n. on # 427 to # 7. Go west to # 50. Go
 n. to railway bridge in Bolton and search around there or in the Husky
Industrial Plant. If you go west on Healey Rd. and turn right at the first side street, you will have unobstructed close views of the Owl. (provided it remains at that location).
