Hi Everyone
Today, February 6,2005 birded along the St.Lawrence River from Cornwall
to Prescott. Overall, only a few open areas of water with Common Goldeneye
being the commonest duck with approximately 750 and one male Barrow's
Goldeneye at Cornwall. Other uncommon waterfowl included 1 Bufflehead, 1
Hooded Mreganser and 5 Red-brested Merganser. A Northern Shrike was observed
hunting near the Saunders Generating Station in Cornwall. Very few gulls
were observed along the river, the most interesting being a !st winter
Iceland Gull at Prescott.
Earlier today, near Ste.Rose just east of Casselman/Hwy.417, 3 Snowy
Owls were observed along Con.20 & 19. Two different Song Sparrows were in
drainage ditches in the area.
In the Eagleson Road/Fallowfield Road area 4 Snowy Owls were observed
late afternoon. Both the March Valley Road and Kilmaurs Side Road/Dunrobin
Road had good numbers of Great Gray Owls late today.
