Subject: Some of our owls heading farther south

I hope it is OK to relate some of this interesting information on the Great
Gray, Snowy, Boreal and Hawk Owls. Some of our neighbours to the south are
getting to see some of them too, particularly Wisconsin.

When I first clicked on this link I got through OK. Second time it asked for
some info so not sure how it'll work for you. Article on the invasion into
Wisconsin.

And the same problem with Great Gray Owls colliding with cars.

Yesterday, January 23, 2005, we spotted about 20 male and female Pine Grosbeaks
at Foley Mountain Conservation area near Westport. A section of the main road
which leads down to the water is not plowed in the winter. We walked along
this section and saw the grosbeaks in a tree near the side of the road.

A quick check of an Atlas shows that a lot of Michigan and Wisconsin are, in
fact, further north than most of us in Ontario - South of the border doesn't
mean south of us!!!
