Hello Ontbirders,

My Dad and I saw two more Great Gray Owls west of
Ottawa today. A first year bird was at 4165 Torbolton
Ridge Road (just E of Kilmaurs Road). An adult was at
1630 Kilmaurs Road (just S of Torbolton Ridge Road).

To reach these sites, take Highway 417 to the Kinburn
Sideroad exit (just E of Arnprior). Take Kinburn SR N
to Torbolton Ridge Road. Turn left (W) onto Torbolton
Ridge Road and follow for a few km until you reach
#4165.

Jeff

  Merry Christmas Birders.
Cynthia Cook at the Forest Glen Herb Farm has a barn with a fatal attraction?
A few weeks ago she had to push a GOSHAWK from the
body of chicken that the Gos had chased into her barn.
More recently, four days ago she found an ad. NORTHERN SHRIKE in the
closed barn chasing HOUSE SPARROWS. It must have followed the sparrows in
through a hole. Anyway it ate three sparrows before succumbing itself. The
emaciated specimen will go to the Pinery Provincial Park. There was water
available for it because it was in with the chickens. They ignored it.
The F.G. Herb farm is situated on the lake off Lakeshore Rd.
between Highland Glen and Kettle Point. That is between Sarnia and Grand Bend.
