At 3:30 today we found 2 Great Gray Owls outside of Marmora. One was on a
conifer right at the side of the Centre Line and the other on a fence post
by the road and afterward in a tree beside a barn. A very exciting find for
us.
Directions:
Marmora is on highway # 7 about 35 minutes north of Belleville and/or
Trenton. It is 45 minutes east of Peterborough. In Marmora go north at the
stoplight and continue until you come to a stop sign. This entails driving
through the village and up a hill and down the other side. Turn right at
stop sign which says Main Street and soon becomes Cordova Road. Just over
a kilometre out of town, turn right on Centre Line (first right). About 1.8
km. out there is a barn with a large name on it saying "JeeBee Stables".
The one owl was on the post and in the field just past the barn. The other
owl was on the roadside about 200 metres before the barn. There are good
fields and trees all along here so they could be anywhere in this vicinity
so watch the roadsides as you drive along.
