Sunday, Dec. 19, was bitterly cold for birders. Just before noonhour I saw a
Glaucous Gull among many waterfowl in the open water west of Brock St. S. in
Whitby-- the Pringle Creek bridge.

On Hall's Rd. in southwest Whitby the north roadside feeder and path
attracts many House Finches, Tree Sparrows and Juncos, along with several
Cardinals and 1 or 2 White-throated Sparrows. Common Redpolls were reported
in the trees above around 9a.m. At 11a.m. I witnessed a small flock of
Redpolls here-- they were constantly on the move for 5 minutes, before
flying off. A Song Sparrow came in to feed.

Recent raptors include Red-tailed, Rough-legged, Harrier , Kestrel and
Sharp-shinned. I have not heard of a Cooper's for several days.

The Golden-crowned Sparrow has not been reported since Dec.11, after a
string of 36 consecutive days.

>From the 401 exit at Brock St. in Whitby, south throug Victoria to the
Pringle Creek bridge OR west along Victoria about 2 km. over to Hall's
Rd.--south.
