It appears the owls have arrived in the City of Kawartha Lakes! A Great
Grey was reported above near Fenelon Falls.
At 8:15 p.m. Sat we suddenly noticed a BOREAL OWL sitting on a bird
feeder
stand under our patio roof. He/she was very actively watching for a mouse
to appear beneath our bird feeders. The area was lit by Christmas lights
and our living room lights. The owl looked at us several times and then
went back to hunting. We had wonderful views from different windows. At
10:05 he caught a mouse right against our patio doors. He flew away with it
but returned to the same perch in 12 minutes. At 11:33 he is still here.
Directions -
Take highway #7 east of # 35 to Omemee. Continue east up the hill to
Emily
Park Rd. Go north 3 concessions to the north east corner of Emily Park
(Note Osprey Nest). Turn left (west) onto Peace Rd. We live at 829 Peace
Rd which is a short distance past the bridge.
