Hi everyone, A total of 45 minutes of birding after work today (Dec. 1) produced some VERY good winter listing birds. I observed the BLACK-NECKED STILT at 4:15 this afternoon at the Ridgetown Sewage Lagoons. It was a bit hard to find amongst all of the geese, mallards and shovelers but it did finally fly into view. This bird has now been present for at least 22 days. Also there was a single DUNLIN along the shoreline. Both birds were visible from the viewing tower. At 4:50 at Erieau, a LITTLE GULL was feeding along the channel at the end of the road. As far as I know, this is the first one this fall season for the area. A quick check of the channel behind the gravel piles resulted in a FORSTER'S TERN. The bird was still there when I left at 5:00. This is undoubtedly one of the 2 that have been present in the Erieau area all fall.
Directions:Ridgetown is afew miles N/E of Rondeau P.P. At the only traffic light, turn North on Erie St.----go about 10 short blocks---just before the Rairoad tracks and the large Fertilizer plant turn left on Mitton Line. The lagoons are just a bit down the road-----you will see the viewing stand. YOU CAN NOT ENTER these lagoons.Viewing is good from the stand. Erieau is located south of Highway 3 between Blenheim and Cedar Springs in Kent County, at the end of the Erieau Road. The pier and main channel are at the far east end of the Erieau Road and the gravel piles are on the left hand side. Steve Charbonneau Erie Beach in Chatham-Kent, Ontario [EMAIL PROTECTED]
