We touched base at some of the usual Niagara spots today.

The CALIFORNIA GULL was at its customary spot on the rocks to the left
of of the dam at Adam Beck allowing some of our party ( Carol Edwards,
Matt Victoria, Barry Kent MacKay and myself) to practice long distance
photographs.

Among the abundant BOANPART'S GULLS at Adam Beck was also a beautiful
ICELAND GULL, and near mid morning Matt picked out a juv. BLACK LEGGED
KITTIWAKE.
As well as as one at Adam beck, there was an additional LESSER BB GULL
just above the falls. GREATER BB GULLSwere seen in small numbers.

At the whilpool rapids among the hundreds of winter plumaged adult
Bonapart's was an individual in full breeding plumage. Somebody's
always a bit out of step.

We saw no sign of a TEAL, Eurasian or otherwise, but there was a BRANT
feeding with the Canadas at the Dufferin Nature Center.

Directly below the falls was a NORTHERN LOON.

Thanks to all for a "Guid day oot"

Hi Everyone
Had a great 3 day weekend (Nov.27 to 29) birding the Niagara Region. =
Saw many of the highlights including the Rufous/Allen's Hummingbird on =
Nov.28, California Gull on Nov.28 & 29, Black-legged Kittiwake Nov.27, =
Little Gull at Queenston Nov.28, numerous Lesser Black-backed Gulls and =
the Eurasian Teal on Nov.28.
The land bird watching was very good with 3 Tufted Titmice & 2 =
Red-bellied Wdpk at Chippawa, 5 Carolina Wren at Queenston, 4 =
Red-bellied Wdpk at Niagara-on-the-Lake.=20
This morning, Nov.29, before leaving we observed a female Harlequin =
Duck below the control dam feeding in a large flock of Common Goldeneye =
and resting on a rock. On Nov.28, this area was under water with no =
exposed rocks.=20
The Golden-crowned Sparrow was still present near Ajax, we waited =
about 20 minutes for it to come out to feed. There was also a Northern =
Shrike nearby. Counted 91 Red-tailed Hawks along the highway between =
Stoney Creek and Belleville!
                                                good birding
                                                    Bruce

>Northern Harrier- male.
mid town Toronto backyard (Avenue Road and Eglinton). The bird was on the
ground for about ten minutes, hopping around. then a low branch, before
leaving. I would think the bird has left the area.
