Ontbirders
The Black-legged Kittiwake reported yesterday by Terry Sprague was still to be found this afternoon among a large flock of Bonaparte's Gulls foraging with mergansers in Athol Bay at the east end of Sandbanks Provincial Park. Also in the neighbourhood were several adult Little Gulls and a first-winter Glaucous Gull. I didn't see the Sabine's Gull reported yesterday by Terry but could have missed it due to the rather challenging weather conditions. To get to the viewing area, take County Rd. 12 south from Bloomfield to the main gates of Sandbanks PP. Continue about 500m southwest along an extension of County Rd. 12 to where it approaches the lake.
