Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 5 hours

Official Counter: Claude Radley

Observers: Janina Radley

Weather:
It was a pleasant, if not very productive, day. Mostly cloudy with light
winds from the NW becoming calm and then light from the SW. Comfortable
for we on the the tower but apparently the raptors are still waiting for
better.

Observations:
The few Red-tailed we saw were unenthusiastic migrators. Travelling from
tree to tree until finally deciding to head out in ernest. The Sharpie
and the Cooper's were both on a mission.
One adult and one sub-adult Bald Eagle (the local boys) hung about all
day, mostly scanning the beach for washed up fish.
Few birds were seen on the 1 hour drive home (ENE bound). A couple of
Red-tailed, one Red-shoulder and a few Kestrel. The bird of the day was
an adult Sharp-shinned on the back yard fence monitoring the feeders when
we did get home.

357 Goldfinches (some, no doubt, wearing the bracelets we gave them
yesterday afternoon)headed out.
Other migrants:
2 unidentified Swallows!
7 Dark-eyed Juncos
6 American Tree Sparrows
11 Red-winged Blackbirds
143 American Crows
Non-migrating birds:
200+ Mallard
38 Black Ducks
27 American Coot
21 Pied-billed Grebe
11 Ruddy Ducks
1 Great Black-backed Gull
23 Bonaparte's Gulls
18 Ring-billed Gulls
2 Great Blue Heron
2 Cardinals
1 Down Woodpecker
1 Northern Flicker
2,000+ American Crows were just west of the town of Essex on our drive
home.

Predictions:
Not Great. Mostly cloudy to overcast. Winds SW 10 km becoming SW 15
Gusting to 30 km around noon. Early morning temperature 3 rising to 13 by
mid-afternoon.
