Hello Ontbirders

A beautiful, calm, crisp morning at Andrew Hayden Park produced large
numbers of waterfowl and gulls along the shores of Graham and Britannia
Bays.
Ice is forming on the shoreline with many birds resting there.
Some of the more interesting birds included 4 adult winter Lesser
Black-backed Gulls, 1 adult Iceland Gull (Kumlien's) and 3 first winter
Iceland Gulls.
Most interesting were a pair of Richardson's Cackling Geese at the mouth of
Graham Creek (not much bigger than Mallards - complete with tiny bill and
punched-in forehead). The two were inseparable among a large concentration
of Canadas. At about 8:00am they separated from the Canadas, taking to the
air in a southward direction.
I think I'll go visit a bird feeder in Nepean now.

Cheerio

>From Highway 417 (The Queensway) take exit 129 (Greenbank & Pinecrest
Roads).
If travelling west, the 0.3 km offramp dumps you right or north onto
Pinecrest
Road. If driving east, a 0.3 km offramp brings you to Pinecrest/Greenbank
Road,
where you will turn left or north onto Pinecrest Road and in 0.4 km join the
westbound offramp traffic. Both groups will now follow Pinecrest Road north
1.0
km from here to Carling Avenue. Turn left or west on Carling and go 2.0 km
to
the turnoff for the parking lot for Andrew Hayden Park on the right or
north.
Turn right into the lot.
