2 Barred Owls were seen in the wooded vicinity of the north pathway off
Hall's Rd. in southwest Whitby -Nov.8

The ORANGE-CROWNED SPARROW is being seen on the pathway just short of the
south pathway platform. Generally it comes in for 5-30sec. every 10-12
minutes, unless the N.Shrike is nearby. Many of us watched the adult Shrike
embark on aerial battles with 3 Blue Jays.

Also seen-- 4 Fox Sparrows, several Cedar Waxwings, an Eastern Bluebird
(singing), many Pine Siskins, Catbird, a Common Loon and a Trumpeter Swan
(untagged).

103 migrating raptors were counted over aperiod of 6 hours-- highlights
being 30 ROUGH-LEGGEDS (to date total--247, eclipsing the 1991 record of
222), 61 Red-tailed, 1 Merlin, 1 Kestrel, 2 Sharp-shinned, 5 Cooper's, 2
N.Harrier).

There were very visitors again today, all of whom are indebted to Karl
Jennewein for daily supplying feed for the incoming passerines; thanks also
to Ian Cannell for today's feed supply.

Exit 401 at Salem; south to Bayly, east through Lakeridge to the first
street--Hall's Rd.--south to the second roadside parking area.
