Thanks to the many observers today...Colin, Frank and Tom from T.O.. Dave from Union, John Wismer and Carol Koenig, Rosie and Bruce McDonald, Brian Pierce and Carol David...and others who I missed getting names for. Weather: Well...we got the winds today...all N and Ne and fairly strong. A bit too much cloud (100% all day) to get good thermals going with Thermal Updraft Velocity TUV=2 (Poor). The cold front is making itself felt however, with temp barely reaching 18. It felt colder with the wind...just ask Su :) Observations: Although no new records today...746 Sharpies and 668 Kestrels is pretty amazing!! Total of 9 species counted with highlights being some very close Bald Eagles, numerous Male Harriers and a Merlin that decided to do his imitation of a tower fly-by at full speed...that really impressed all the visitors! :) Some really good passerines today...several warbler species including Bay-Breasted, Blackpoll, Orange-crowned, Nashville, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat. Also Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Chimney Swifts, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and others. Predictions: Looks like a bit more sun for Saturday...and strong NE to N winds...could be really good, especially given this is prime-time for Broadwings. Estimated TUV=4 (Good). ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch: Oldest Hawkwatch in Ontario - since 1931 - located just east of Port Stanley on the cliff overlooking Lake Erie
