Last Monday, 6 Sept, Jim Pawlicki and I studied an interesting shorebird at Rock Point Provincial Park on Lake Erie. I was able to take some digiscoped images of the bird and Sandra Eadie posted them on the OFO web site: http://www.ofo.ca/photos/westernsp/ Note that the bottom photo on the web page is of a juvenile Western that we had at the same spot.
So far I have received six responses from experienced birders. Three birders who live in the Great Lakes region lean toward this being a Western. The two coastal-region birders and one inland birder think it's more likely a Semipalmated. I would be very happy to hear from anyone with informed comments about this bird. Good birding!
