Birders:
Today (sept. 6th), there was a good assortment of shorebirds at the
Townsend Sewage Lagoons. Species seen were:
2 Juvenile Buff-Breasted Sandpipers- (along the various dry places around the
productive lagoon)
1 Long-billed Dowitcher- A Moulting Adult
1 Short-billed Dowitcher- Juvenile
5+ Black-bellied Plover- Moulting Adults
5+ Stilt Sandpipers (1-2 Adults)
And a various assortment of other species with Least Sandpiper being the most
common species, followed by Lesser Yellowlegs,
Killdeer, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Semipalmated Plover, Barid's Sandpiper and
Pectoral Sandpiper also being fairly easy to find.

Directions: From Hamilton, go south on Hwy. 6, continue south past
Hagersville; turn west on Haldimand Reg. Rd. 69 into Townsend. At the
four-way stop, turn south on Keith Richardson Parkway. At the road just
before the railway tracks, turn right; the lagoons are about 1 km along
on the north side. Do not block the entranceway or park in the turning
widening.
