Hi Everyone
Yesterday morning, September 1, 2004 I birded along the Ottawa River
from Shirleys Bay to Deschenes Rapids. Highlights included a flock of 4
Great Egrets at the base of the dyke at Shirleys Bay plus one in the
back bay. Shorebird numbers were low but still lots of good habitat. A
flock of 6 juvenile Stilt Sandpipers were observed feeding and there
were both adult and juv. plumaged Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs. At
Deschenes Rapids off Britannia Point a flock of 4 juvenile Red-necked
Phalaropes were observed feeding mid way out below the rapids.
good birding
