Rondeau Daily Report May6/04 Sun and strong south winds brought in a few new arrivals today, though total bird numbers remained low. Visitors had to work hard for their sightings. The Prothonotary Warblers finally arrived with one seen on Bennett Rd at 2pm and another (the same one?) on Spicebush Trail at 4pm. Other warblers of note were a Worm-eating and Golden-winged, both on the Spicebush, a Yellow-breasted Chat on the Marsh Trail, and a Prairie behind the Maintenance Building. In total 16 species of Warblers were seen.
Of the more common birds both SwainsonÂ’s Thrush and Blue-headed Vireo seemed more numerous today than earlier in the week. The Friends of Rondeau are sponsoring two guided hikes daily until May 23rd.
