Birders,

My Mom and I spent the day at Long Point today and saw the following birds:

Big Creek: Sandhill Cranes, 2 Common Moorhens, Tundra Swans, Bald Eagle, Sora,
American Bitterns seen all day long. We spotted 6
WILLETS flying along the shore of the Inner Bay (across from Big Creek) around
Noon. When we returned at Dusk, ONE WILLET was seen
sitting close on the shore and within two minutes it flew and joined a flock of
6 in flight, making at least SEVEN in total.

Old Cut and Long Point Provincial Park: Highlights were at least 3 BLUE-WINGED
WARBLRES, two Purple Finch, a few of both Red-Headed
and Red-bellied Woodpeckers, a Rusty Blackbird in the park, all among other new
Migrants like Chimney Swift, Eastern Wood Pewee etc.

Bird Studies Canada Headquarters: Had all 5 Eastern Swallow species, plus
Purple Martin and Chimney Swift. An Eastern Kingbird was
seen across the road.

Port Rowan Sewage Lagoon: Semipalmated Plover and Solitary Sandpiper were the
highlights along with Least Sandpiper, Spotted
Sandpiper and Lesser Yellowlegs. A Ring-necked Pheasant was also heard here.

Concession A: Had Many Rusty Blackbirds, and a Beautiful White-eyed Vireo.

Hastings Drive: Had a first year male Orchard Oriole, and another White-eyed
Vireo.

It was a great day to be out birding. I ended the day with 116 species seen in
total.

Good Birding
