Today we spent about two hours at the site, posted by Terry Osborne this morning. During this time the female (very beautiful) Varied Thrush came out three times. We timed it as it would come to feed at every 35-45 minutes and would stay there for about 1-2 minutes. Other noteworthy birds at the site: male Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Red-bellied Woodpecker two Fox Sparrows feeding at the same spot as the Varied Thrush Purple Finch on one of the feeders. a few Pine Siskins Sharp-shinned Hawk overhead. Good Luck. Karl & Marienna Egressy Guelph http://members.rogers.com/kegressy
Direction as per Terry Osborne: DIRECTIONS: Take the QEW west to the 403. Continue westerly to Hwy 6 which goes to Guelph. Go northerly past the road that will take you to the Lion Safari to the next concession road which will be Conc. 8 West. Turn left or to the west and proceed approximately 4 or 5 miles or so or until the blacktop becomes gravel. That will be at Westover Road. Turn right, or to the north, and go to house number 1605. The house will be on the left side of the road. The bird is coming to a rock outcrop to the south side of the house where the owner has cast bird seed.
