ROSS GOOSE SNOW GOOSE BLACK VULTURE OSPREY BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS EASTERN TOWHEE Common Loon Red-necked Grebe Pied-billed Grebe Harlequin Duck Bald Eagle Northern Harrier CooperÂ’s Hawk Sharp-shinned Hawk Turkey Vulture Red tailed Hawk Peregrine Falcon Wild Turkey Wilson's Snipe Short-eared Owl Belted Kingfisher Eastern Phoebe Northern Shrike Tree Swallow Brown Creeper Eastern Bluebird Golden-crowned Kinglet Eastern Meadowlark Rusty Blackbird Fox Sparrow This week has been fairly quiet for the most part but some exciting sightings have been reported sporadically throughout the week. Over the last two days birds have started to move again. Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville has been the spot for Geese this week with a SNOW GOOSE and a ROSS' GOOSE reported this week from the reservoir and flying out over the park. Another great sighting this week was the presence of over 2000 Red-necked Grebes off of Ben Macree in Port Credit. Also still present here are the Harlequin Ducks and a report of a large number of Tree Swallows hanging around the harbour. A BLACK VULTURE was seen again over Beamer Memorial Conservation Area on Monday in a flock of Turkey Vultures moving through. Other raptors seen this week include Cooper's Hawk, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk and Bald Eagle. It won't be long before the tower sees the Broad-wings!!. An OSPREY was seen yesterday over the Valley Inn and over the RBG Arboretum. Other raptor highlights is the start of the Peregrine nesting season atop the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton. The bird can be views on nest at http://www.hamiltonnature.org/hamfalcam.html. Coopers Hawks were seen building a nest in Gage Park. Northern Harriers continue to cruise over the fields on 10th Concession East above Ridge Road and the Short-eared Owls continue to be seen here as well. Wilson's Snipe were heard winnowing at this location as well. Other birds at Beamer this week include Common Loon, Eastern Phoebe, Fox Sparrow, and EASTERN TOWHEE. Eastern Phoebe (2) were also seen at Kerncliffe Park off of Kerns Road. BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were reported last Friday from the Guelph Arboretum. These birds and others may still be around as they make their way back west. Other sightings this week include Pied-billed Grebe in the ponds at Guelph Line and North Service Road, Wild Turkey at Dundas Valley C.A., Belted Kingfisher at Desjardins Canal, Eastern Meadowlark at Old Guelph Road and York Road, Eastern Bluebirds behing the Olympic Arena, Rusty Blackbird at a feeder in Flamborough, Northern Shrike still lurking about on Brock Road and 5th Concession, Golden-crowned Kinglets and Brown Creepers everywhere!! Be sure to look for the Towhee's and Sapsuckers and hopefully something juicy coming through in the next week! Have a great Easter!
