Hello all
Anyone walking out the east pier of the Welland Canal at Port Weller will
notice considerable change to the landscape north of the small pond and the
area we refer to as the 'island.' Seaway crews have been working there over
the past few days with some heavy equipment removing many trees and leveling
the ground in several areas.

A meeting for May 12 (the earliest possible) has been arranged with Michel
Drolet, a Vice President of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority, at which time
we will learn more about their plans for the east pier. John Black has
kindly agreed to join me at this meeting with Mr. Drolet.

We will let everyone know what their plans are after we have had this
meeting.

We would ask anyone birding the east pier in the next few weeks not be
confrontational in any way with Seaway staff. Please be sure to report any
unusual observations of their work to me privately. Many thanks.
