For the past two days, I have observed (via the web cam) that the
Peregrines on the east tower of the Clarica Centre (Bloor and
Islington) may be in the process of nesting. They share regular
"shifts" on the nest box and one or the other always appears to be on
duty. Once in the box each bird "hunkers" down (almost flat) and
remains in the same position for long periods of time.

I have captured several web cam photos of them. One photo from
yesterday shows a dark spot that may possibly be an egg. I would be
interested to learn if anyone else has info to share about them.

Following their outing in the Long Point vicinity, 4 OFOers led by John S.
(also of Pickering Naturalists) headed up to LaSalle in hopes of finding the
Barrow's, locating it about 50 meters west of the marina and within 20 feet of
the shorewall -very close to the platform with the small green crane (non
Gruidae/one-legged) on it.
Scopes required; special thanks to John, Lance and Ross.

LaSalle Park Rd runs south to the water crossing NorthShore Blvd in Hamilton.

I spotted at least 2 male Lapland Longspurs (close to breeding plumage)
with a group of about 40 Snow Buntings. I shut my car off at the side of the
road and they moved in right up beside me for a close look.

QEW to Victoria Ave., Vineland and go south, and up the escarpment. Past Fly
Rd. then Bethesda Rd., then go right on Martindale Rd. They were in the
first field there before the grapery.

Good birding Nancy Smith
