A notable feature of the Barrow's goldeneye male seen at LaSalle Park
yesterday was its agressive mating display shown towards Common
goldeneye females - a display including neck-stretching, head-bobbing
and tight circling of the female : noticeably different in detail from
that
of the Common - but I saw no response from the females so I suppose
they were wise to him?

LaSalle Park and small boat harbour lies at the foot of LaSalle Park Rd
which runs south off North Shore Boulevard in Hamilton. The bird was
seen in the waters to the right of the boatyard, close inshore
