Cold westerly winds greeted avian enthusiasts along Hall's Rd. in southwest
Whitby this AM of Feb.4. Perhaps 200 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen in the snowy
fields to the east and west of the road. The following birds were detected
by various people alongside the roadway--male R-n Pheasant, Red-tailed Hawk
and N.Harrier; and in the vicinity of the excellent feeding station--DOWNY
WOODPECKERS, NORTHERN FLICKER, JUNCOS, many Tree Sparrows, House Finches,
Goldfinches, 1 male PURPLE FINCH, 6 male and 3 female N.Cardinals, a small
flight of C.REDPOLLS, Chickadees and Blue Jay. Feed is being placed down the
path at the marshside platform--this area has been home-base for 2 Song
Sparrows, Tree Sparrows, Chickadees and an occasional Swamp Sparrow.
Oldsq---er!--2 Long-tailed Ducks were spotted on the lake from the end of
Hall's Rd. yesterday.

Undoubtedly other birds have been spotted here, but this will do for my
early February report.
Hall's Rd. runs south from Victoria/Bayly St. and is one block east of
Lakeridge Rd. in southwest Whitby.
