At about 1:00 p.m. today we drove north on the West Canal Bank Rd along the edge of the Holland Marsh west of Newmarket. At lot number 2305 we stopped for a flock of Redpolls flying from the north over the road to a wonderful field of weeds beside the road. They were very active, flying around the field every minute or so. The flock grew from about 100 to 175 while we were studying them. We believe that we identified at least 2 Hoarys in the flock, but they moved so much that it was very difficult. Has anyone else seen Hoarys lately at this location? In the same vicinity we saw the Northern Shrike reported by Ron Fleming yesterday. Bob and Mary Hartley.
