Karen and I did a quick check of the Owl Woods today. There were at least 6 SAW-WHET OWLS, 5 of which were in the Pine Woods. There was also a single roost of LONG-EARED OWLS with at least 20 of the owls occupying half a dozen trees.
Yesterday there was an adult BALD EAGLE on the ice opposite the Hydro Plant to the west of Bath. Directions to Amherst Island: Exit Hwy 401 at exit # 599 and drive south on County Rd 4 to Hwy 33 at Millhaven. Turn right and drive a very short distance to the ferry dock. The ferry runs leaves on the half hour, returning on the hour. (Fee 5.00 per vehicle).
