The 59th Carleton Place CBC was held on Saturday 27 December in Spring-like
conditions with no snow on the ground except in the bush, streams running
and Mississippi Lake more open than usual.  We had 44 species (above
average) and 5829 individuals (below average).

New to the Count:
Bald Eagle 2 - overdue as we have had them in count week several times.

High Counts:
Canada Goose 318 (previous high 101)
Cooper's Hawk 3 (1)

Tied the Previous High Count:
Merlin 1
Northern Hawk-Owl 1 (the famous Almonte bird cooperated)

Winter species included:
Bohemian Waxwing 53
Snow Bunting 326
Pine Grosbeak 1
Purple Finch 5
Common Redpoll 732
Pine Siskin 1 (and more seen at feeders the next day)
Evening Grosbeak 66

White-winged Crossbill
