This morning at Long Point, approaching Lee Brown's pond from the East, we watched a flight of about 150 Sandhill cranes fly across Hwy 42. They descended from a fair height then circled to land in the marsh to the South. We had a close look at two in a field lying just NW of the Lee Brown tower. South of the causeway leading into the Point, the low ululations of Tundra swans, led us to hundreds of them lying in the shallows offshore.
On the way home along the 407 from Hamilton, we counted 57 Redtailed and Roughlegged hawks - I suppose they were taking a toll on the ranks of microtus. Ah - "mice and men"! - cheers - Stan Stan Long <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Visit http://www.ofo.ca/ontbirdsguide.htm for information on leaving and joining the list.
