Today with Bill McLeod and Evan Gough, we went to Pinery Provincial Park and Strathroy sewage lagoons. At the Pinery, there was no sign of Townsend's Solitaire at the maintenance compound area for about 20min starting at noon. In fact, the only bird life was a male Red-bellied Woodpecker. On the other hand, the feeders at the Visitor Centre were full of activity as usual. At least 4 Tufted Titmouse, 7 Purple Finch (mostly females) and 1 White-crowned Sparrow were among the most noteworthy at the feeders.
Strathroy sewage lagoons held 8 Tundra Swan, about 60 Bonaparte's Gull and 1 Green-winged Teal all on the left pond. Another sighting for the day were 3 Eastern Bluebird at County Road 6 and Scout Road (northwest Middlesex, just west of Sylvan). Directions: Pinery Provincial Park is located in northern Lambton County between Grand Bend and Port Franks along Highway 21. Strathroy sewage lagoons are located just west of Strathroy on Pike Road between Napperton Drive (County Road 39) and Melbourne Road (County Road 9).
