Many KFN people were on the Island today, Oct. 11. The AVOCET is still around the ponds near 2 HUDSONIAN GODWIT. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and a small flock of LAPLAND LONGSPURS were also seen in the fields south of the ponds.
Directions: The ferry to Amherst I. operates from a dock at the western side of Millhaven. It can be reached from the 401 by taking exit 593 south to Millhaven. Jog right about 100 m. On Hwy 33 to the dock. The ferry costs $5.00 Cdn return and starts at 6:20 a.m. Then 7:30 and thereafter on the half hour. After the ferrry ride to Stella on the Island drive east on the front Rd. until it turns south onto Lower Rd. Continue south until the road turns west onto South Shore Rd.. Park by the corral without bolcking access and walk north to the stile over the fence onto the KFN Property. Follow the path northeast along the lakeshore and walk up on the berm that contains the "ponds".
