Despite this a steady if light pace was observed throughout the day and a decent total was recorded by days end. As expected many of the birds took a northwest flight path and undoubtedly many more were beyond even scope view. The stiff wind kept most of the birds low, often disappearing beyond a tree line only to pop up at close range. A secondary site, the Headquarters of Pointe Mouillee State Game Area can be used during certain wind conditions. When staffing is available, both sites can be used at the same time. The season begins on the first day of September and concludes on the final day of November.
