Hello Ontbirders
With the lack of rain recently, water levels are slowly dropping
along the Ottawa River. Yesterday, August 20th , I birded Andrew Haydon
Park (east end) and observed 1 juv.. Baird's Sandpiper, 1 ad.
Sanderling, 1 Greater Yellowlegs and a small number of juv..
Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers. At Shirleys Bay, despite lower water
levels only 6 Spotted Sandpipers were found. Over the marsh 12 Common
Tern, 3 Black Tern, 1 American Bittern, and 1 Merlin were observed and
overhead 20+ Bobolinks were heard calling as they migrated.
good birding
