Hi Ontbirders,
About noon today, 17 August, we saw a Buff-breasted Sandpiper at the sod
farm at Sylvan Glen Road and County Road 74. It was in the second field on
the east side of Sylvan Glen Road just north of County Road 74. Most of the
time it was on or near the strip of green sod. Then it wandered onto the
plowed field. Most of the field no longer has sod. Also there were 2
molting adult Black-bellied Plovers, Killdeer and Horned Larks. Sometimes
an Upland Sandpiper is seen here too. You need a scope to see the birds.
Directions: From 401, take County Road 28 north (Exit 464 at Port Hope) to
the first traffic light and turn left onto County Road 74. Continue to
Sylvan Glen Road and turn right.
Earlier we were at Presqu'ile which had very few shorebirds.
Happy shorebirding,
