OFNC BIRD STATUS LINE - MAY 25 2003 AT 7:00 PM
Hello. This is Terry Higgins reporting for the Bird Status Line
on May 25 at 7:00 p.m.
On May 24 a Yellow-billed Cuckoo was spotted in Gatineau Park. It
was both seen and heard along the Gatineau Parkway near the turn
off to Champlain Lookout.
Many species of Warbler have been reported this weekend. A report
received from the Britannia area on the 25th listed 10 species,
including Blackpoll, Chestnut-sided, Northern Parula, Nashville,
Bay-breasted, Canada and Blackburnian.
Reports from the Huntmar area also on the 25th totalled an amazing
21 species. Highlights included Mourning Warbler, Golden-winged,
Wilson s and Orange-crowned Warbler. Other Warblers seen in the
Huntmar/Old Carp Road area were American Redstart, Chestnut-sided
Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Yellow Warbler, Ovenbird and
Blackpoll.
Also in the Huntmar area were Alder, Willow, Least and Great-
crested Flycatcher.
A Black-billed Cuckoo was seen carrying nesting material on Old
Carp Road on the 25th.
