Hello Ontbirds people,

Report from Blyth Robertson to the Ottawa Field Naturalists' Club Bird
Status Line today (May 20) @ 5:36 PM:

A male BREWSTER'S WARBLER singing a Blue-winged Warbler song --- Huntmar
Drive, approx. 0.5 km along the R.R. tracks going east from Huntmar, on the
north side of the tracks. Also, a singing male Golden-winged Warbler,
approx. 1.2 km farther east, where the trail crosses the tracks.

This has been a good location for both Golden-winged & Blue-winged Winged
Warblers during migration in recent years. A singing male Golden-winged
Warbler was reported this past Saturday (May 17) by a separate observer (Ray
Holland) in the same general location. Single singing male Blue-winged
Warblers (rare migrant in the Ottawa area) have been observed here almost
annually by m. obs. in mid-to-late May since 1999.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Hwy 417 west to the Eagleson Rd. / March Rd. exit, go north on March
Rd., then west (left) on Old Carp Road, then south (left) onto Huntmar
Drive. Park near the R.R. track overpass and walk east. There is a trail
through the woods just north of the tracks which parallels the tracks, and
connects (crossing the tracks) with another trail which goes south from a
gravel driveway.

Good birding & thanks to Blyth for this report.
