Today between 2:30 and 5:00 I walked around the Bronte Harbour Marina. There
were at least 5 pairs of Red-necked Grebes - nearly every slip had a pair -
many of them going thro' courting behaviour.
There were at least 3 Horned Grebes, 2 in breeding plumage and one just
starting to change, found in the waterway nearest to the lake - along the
walkway beside the break wall .
There were also Buffleheads, Greater Scaup, some American Coots, a
couple of White-winged Scoters, several DC Cormorants (and hundreds of the
latter in the lake south of the breakwall).
On the lawn West of the restaurant along with many Herring and
Ring-billed Gulls was a Blue Phase Snow Goose. (A blue phase and a white
phase Snow Goose were also seen in the park on the west side of the river.)
Take QEW to Bronte Rd and go South past Lakeshore Rd. until the road turns
to the left. There is parking near the restaurant.
