Fellow Birders, This weekend 10 GREAT BLUE HERONS arrived in their nesting places in the heronry on Taunton Rd. west of Altona Rd. The dead one is still dangling from one of the nests and has been hanging there for the entire winter. The arrival according to a local resident is later this year compared to March 7, 2002 and February 28, 2001. The best place to view them is through a scope from the corner of Altona & Taunton.
Sighted 2 TRUMPETER SWANS on Whites Rd. in a corn field south of Taunton Rd. I was able to befriend them with some corn and report the numbers on the bands to Harry Lumsden. The other 2 TRUMPETERS of which we tagged & banded 1 last week were swimming in the lake by the entrance of Lynde Shores Conservation. Directions: Turn off # 401 on Whites Rd. and drive north till Taunton Rd. and turn west to drive beyond Altona. Markus J. Lise Newcastle "Markus J. Lise" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
