For those that collect oddities, there is an albinistic red-tailed hawk near the border of Halton Hills and Brampton north of 401 highway. The bird has a dark head, red tail, and very white wings/back with a few dark feathers giving it a vaguely mottled look. At first glance it would appear to be a snowy owl except the shape is wrong and the head is too small and dark - but that is how white it is. It is quite white when it flies.
It has been seen twice in the previous week around 5:15 p.m. and today at 1:35 p.m. which is the first time I've seen it (previous spottings were by a non- birder). Directions. Take 401 to Winston Churchill Blvd west of Toronto. Go North to 5th sideroad Halton Hills and turn left towards 10th Line Halton Hills. About a km down the road is locator number 16406, a farm with a white board fence and a lot of pine trees. The bird has been seen in the decidous rows of trees on both sides of the road immediately around this pine woodlot the three times it was seen. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
