For those of you looking for wild Turkeys for either your winter or year list, a really good place to find them is off Centerville Road, directions to follow.
This morning I found five or six Toms and at least two hens frequenting a feeder clearly set out to attract Turkeys at 6807 Finnerty Sideroad in Caledon. The feeder is within 75 feet of the road and in clear view. The birds were actively feeding, taking turns going to the feeder and then when finished, walked across the road and into the bushy area immediately north of the road. I found them at approximately 11:30 am this morning but I would suggest that earlier would be much better and likely to produce more birds. I would say that this location represents an almost guarantee in finding some. Also, on Mississauga Road just north of Hwy. 24 (now called Charleston Sideroad for reasons that totally escape me), both on thr road and in the fields adjacent to Mississauga Road, I had a mixed flock of some 75 Snow Buntings, 6 or so Horned Larks, and a possible three Lapland Longspurs. This flock was very flighty and unlike the Turkeys mentioned above, is anything but guaranteed. To get to this location proceed north on Airport Road past the community of Caledon East a kilometer or two. Turn east or right on Finnerty Sideroad and go east, past Innis Lake Road to 6807 Finnerty Sideroad. The name on a sign there reads "Graywood Farms". The feeder is 25 feet or so east of the driveway and some 75 feet to your right or south of the road. Good luck. Terry Osborne "Terry Osborne" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
