I can not reproduce the problem.

Can you try with Sun Studio 11 or 12 and then see what you get? You know,
it would not be the ffirst time that old GCC on Solaris 10 failed me. If I
need GCC, and I often do, I use our own which is 4.6.2 :

# /opt/bw/bin/gcc --version
gcc (Blastwave.org Inc Mon Nov  7 16:53:21 GMT 2011) 4.6.2
Copyright (C) 2011 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions.  There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
