Thanks for your pointers and for your clear answer. Indeed it makes sense
that the shader code in Cycles would be Apache 2.0 so that people can link
these shaders straight into the rendering part of their proprietary 3d code
without having to bake it or somesuch first. I understand now that GPL
would not allow this.
