Ali and all, My comment at the BESS WG session during the presentation of the EVPN Underlay Network Migration From IPv4 to IPv6<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-sajassi-bess-evpn-fabric-migration-01> was about usage of Assisted Ingress Replication<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-bess-evpn-optimized-ir-12> for BW-effective delivery of BUM traffic in EVPN.
It is my understanding that: * Assisted Ingress Replication can be used with EVPN-VxLAN and relies on Source IP addresses in the VxLAN-encapsulated packets for loop prevention * In the case of Underlay migration from IPv4 to IPv6 the ARREPLICATOR (and possibly, A-LRAF?) routes must also undergo migration * The draft in its current form does not define any migration procedures for these nodes. As mentioned during the discussion at the mike, the draft currently is limited to Ingress Replication. Neither Assisted Ingress Replication nor use of of P2MP tunnels (if used for delivery of BUM traffic) are addressed.. IMHO and FWIW both issues should be covered in the next versions of the draft.
