I'm rather afraid I agree with Dixon on
the mostly useless nature of american academics,
and unpleasantly in the area of computer "science".
But I will confess that for tactical reasons I opted
to actually blow my GI beni's and pick up a BS CompSci
degree, which really was a bit of a lark.

Nothing like trying to explain to CompGeeks that
actually, no there are integers larger than one
can fit into an 8-bit representation of them...

So there are a series of problems that a mere
"College Degree" will not fix. The problem for
so many these days is the presumption on the part
of too many employers that a "college degree", even
a CompSci degree, will indicate something.
