Just don't worry about it, you can upgrade CPAN when you get a chance. If I remember 
correctly, CPAN will check the version of your Perl and then send you down the path of 
upgrading Perl... which is to say the least annoying.

This sounds like a problem with the file you downloaded (could be a mirror issue, 
etc.) rather than anything on your system.
