At present, these statistics are based on info available from the 
nntp overview fields (xover-call). 
Unfortunately, it's not a trivial task to reconstruct the threads in 
this list (which, in my opinion is mainly due to the fact that a lot 
of members use their email program instead of their newsreader to 
interface with the list).

In fact, your own message is a good example of this: although it is a 
reply to my Weekly posting statistics article, it doesn't contain any 
references to this article, which makes it kinda difficult to relate 
them as belonging to the same thread.

do thread analysis, which I might, if time permits, incorporate in 
the statistics some day.
