Reviews
Yochanan:
The Tempest (SFShakes) Wonderful. Very Good. Love the free Shakespeare people.
Add some musical numbers, and amazing percussionist. Prospero was played by an
Afr.Amer Woman, and the faerie was play by a gender neutral person. Great
people, great show. Highly recommend.
Ark: The Animated Series (Paramount+) Based on a video game. Only six episodes,
of varying length. Adult animation, line drawn. Paleontologist wakes up to
pre-historic creatures. Great voice talent (Gerald Butler, David Tennant,
Michelle Yeoh) Not for kids!
Uncertain Stars (picked up at BayCon) edited by Valerie Frankle. Includes
several members of BASFA (Candy, Gearld) All really good. Very different
stories. Highly recommend. Worth every penny!
Kennita
SCC Fair. Good time. Not nearly enough signs. Lots of things going on at the
same time. Live animals (including a sloth!). $20 for parking, $15 admission.
Food is at theatre prices, but delicious. thefair.org <http://thefair.org/>
Rani
Gail Carriger local author of The Finishing School steampunk series. First one
is Etiquette and Espionage. Intelligent and spunky young women fgo to a
finishing girl for intelligence work. Very fun books. (YA branch of the Parasol
Protectorate).
Cliff: An audio recording of her appearance at SF in SF is available on the SF
in SF podcast.
Walter:
Reread a book called Recursion by Blake Crouch. Good time travel story with a
twist that causes world-ending events.
Sandra
Edge Runners (Netflix) animated series. Eye popping. Worth looking into. Future
Japan, augmented humans and the side effects. Not for kids.

Walter: Has played the game. Amazing graphics.
Cliff:
Frank Zappa on Steve Allen teaching the bicycle. Last night saw Dweezil Zappa
playing his dad’s music. The best Frank Zappa cover band.
(partial review) Wednesday (Netflix) 5/8 through. Loving it. Really great spin
on the girl detective trope. Characters are closer to the Chaz Addams versions.
Cute references that he had to explain to the kids.
Yochanan: Watched when it came out (with sister and nephew) All loved it.
Robyn: Also watched it. Wednesday is brilliant (smarter than the rest of her
family).
Cliff: There’s also a web series on YouTube called Adult Wednesday Addams. (not
x rated)
Rumor of the Week:
Wednesday’s cool, but Monday is cooler because we have BASFA meetings.
Adjourned at: 21:04
Auction followed.
