ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Ken announced that this Friday is the 4th Friday of the month, so there
will be a meeting of the Legion of Rasselon live in person at the Dennie's
on Bascom in Milpitas on Abbott Rd, near the 880 freeway, at 7:30pm - wear
a mask - for more info check their Facebook page

Fred announced that Carole Parker's husband died of a heart attack at
Pemmi-Con, the Canadian Nasfic, & she would appreciate a bit of help with
meals & advice

REVIEWS:

Craig reviewed Pemmi-Con, the Canadian Nasfic, & rates it as a sad, sad
experience. He attended off & on virtually & virtually nothing worked as
it should have & the worst was having only audio for the Masquerade
         Rick reviewed the Winnipeg NASFiC, Pemmi-Con, in virtual & rates
Zoom management as 'not Zathras's skill'. Aside from that serious problem
(Mrs. Lincoln.), it was genial and mostly fun - but they did not listen to
feedback or learn from prior conventions
         Gerry was at Pemmi-Con in person & had a table there. He found
the virtual aspect of the con to be very badly understaffed, although his 4
panels went well & he sold all the books he brought with him, so his con
experience went well
         Gayle also went & enjoyed several panels & found some of them
amazing

Ken reviewed the 'Barbie' movie as fun & thought-provoking, recommended &
worth full price; Craig followed with a comment of being amazed that the
right wing has worked itself into a lather of hatred over the movie;
         & Ken reviewed time travel shenanigans in Star Trek Strange New
Worlds on Paramount Plus, the 'Those Old Scientists' episode, as having a
lot of fan service & very much recommends it. Rick considers it tremendous
fun.
         & he reviewed 'The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the
Baboon Heart' as very interesting & very crazy & recommends seeing it

Rick reviewed season 1 out of 4 of 'El ministerio del tiempo' (The Ministry
of Time), set in modern-day Spain & all the Spains of the past, which
premiered in 2015.  He rates it as definitely worth watching;
         & he reviewed 'The Congress' from 2013, an animated film with
Robin Wright, as having new relevance with the SAG-AFTRA strike because of
issue over AI-generated media. The second half is closely based on
Stanislaus Lem's "The Futurological Congress" & well worth seeking out.

Yochanan reviewed a Disney Plus show, 'Intertwined', AKA an Argentinian
project: 'Entrelazados' with coming of age time-travel theme; check =

https://www.disneyplus.com/series/wp/1WsqQ1U1uSKV
       & he reviewed the movie 'Bird Man' with Michael Keaton as he was
disappointed by it & can't believe it won the best picture Oscar for that
year.  He found it very surreal;
       & he reviewed a book by Nancy Kress, 'Dogs' that he regrets not
liking as much as her other books, but still recommends it although it's
not one of his favorites;
       & he reviewed the play 'Cymbeline' as really, really good he loved
it & was amazed by the stage set & the play is going to go from Cupertino
to Redwood City to San Francisco; see = https://sfshakes.org/cymbeline/

Trey reviewed an Apple TV documentary about Steph Curry's life called
'Underrated' & that Steph has arranged for anyone who wants to watch it to
get 2 months free of Apple TV. Trey considers the documentary to be very
good & worth seeing; see =

we adjourned at 8:58pm

and the rumor of the week was = 'Twitter is an 'X'-social media platform'
